FiftyTwo4Mom Back On the Road!

FiftyTwo4Mom is a non profit organization started by MSU Alum Brian Lane to raise awareness and money to fund research for Optic Nerve Disease.  Twelve years ago Brian’s mom lost over half of her sight due to Optic Neuropathy and now Brian is traveling the US state by state to raise money and awareness.  Each week Brian will run a different race in a different state.  Races range from 5k to marathons, duathlons and triathlons.

The organization was able to raise over $2,000 in the three weeks, but due to the amount of stress that was put on his body by all of the travel, Brian was forced to return home for a few weeks to heal and make sure he was able to continue.  Doctors have given him the green light, and now with the help of his friend, and fellow MSU Alum, Edgar, Brian is preparing for the next leg of the journey.  They've had to make a few altercations to the schedule but will be back on the road for the Mercedes Marathon (Half Marathon), in Birmingham, Alabama on February 14th.  From there it’s off to Biloxi, Mississippi for the Arbor Day 5k, then to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras Marathon (Half Marathon) on February 28th.

The goal is to raise one million dollars by getting one million people to donate just $1.  FiftyTwo4Mom could really use the support of the MSU Family to continue on their journey.  Alumni Groups as well as businesses are welcomed to sponsor the trip; sponsorships are as low as $20 to have your company logo and website listed on the site.  Sponsors very from local bars/restaurants to athletic companies and other small businesses.  Other opportunities are also available for those interested (email for details).
